Daman Lottery - Responsible Gaming
Daman Lottery responsible gaming: how to set deposit and time limits, recognise problem-gambling warning signs, self-exclude, and reach confidential 18+ support helplines.
Play within your limits
Lottery games at Daman Lottery are designed to be occasional entertainment, not a source of income or a way to recover financial losses. Before purchasing a ticket, decide on a fixed weekly or monthly budget and treat it the same way you would a cinema ticket or a meal out. A practical starting point for most players in India is capping lottery spend at 1 to 2% of monthly take-home pay, for example, ₹500 to ₹1,000 on a ₹50,000 monthly income, and never exceeding that figure regardless of results.
Never chase losses. Each draw is an independent random event; previous results have no influence on future outcomes. If your numbers did not come up, spending more to "win it back" accelerates financial harm rather than reversing it. Equally, avoid funding play through credit cards, BNPL apps, or money borrowed from family. Only ever use disposable income you have already budgeted for entertainment. Review your Daman Lottery transaction history regularly, the account dashboard shows a full spend breakdown so you always know exactly where you stand.
Warning signs of problem gambling
Problem gambling develops gradually and is often hard to recognise from the inside. Financial warning signs include spending more on tickets than planned, missing EMI or utility payments to fund play, hiding UPI transaction records from a partner or family member, or feeling the urge to increase ticket spend to achieve the same excitement. Behavioural signs include repeatedly trying to cut down without success, neglecting work or family commitments, and spending significant time thinking about results or planning the next purchase.
Emotional signs are equally important: feeling restless or irritable when not playing, using lottery tickets as an escape from stress or depression, or experiencing sharp mood swings tied to wins and losses. If you recognise three or more of these patterns, use the free self-assessment tools at iCall or the Vandrevala Foundation and activate the account controls described in the sections below. Acknowledging a problem early dramatically improves long-term outcomes.
Deposit, loss and time limits
Daman Lottery provides three configurable limit types directly inside your account settings. A deposit limit caps the total amount you can add to your wallet in a set period, choose daily, weekly, or monthly. A loss limit stops ticket purchases once your net losses reach a threshold you define. A time limit sends an alert and optionally locks purchasing after you have been active for a chosen number of hours in a single session. Reductions to any limit take effect immediately; increases require a 24-hour cooling-off period before they activate.
To set limits: log in → tap your profile icon → select Responsible Gaming → choose the limit type and enter your value → confirm with your UPI PIN or OTP. Your deposit cap applies across all payment methods, PhonePe, Google Pay, and BHIM UPI combined, so switching apps does not reset your allowance. We recommend reviewing your limits every 30 days alongside your monthly bank statement to keep spending aligned with your actual income.
Self-exclusion and cool-off
If limits alone are not enough, Daman Lottery offers two stronger tools. A cool-off period temporarily suspends your account for 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days. During a cool-off you cannot purchase tickets or top up your wallet, but your balance is preserved and accessible once the period ends. A self-exclusion goes further, it closes your account for a minimum of 6 months, with options extending to 1 year or permanently. During self-exclusion your wallet balance is returned to your registered bank account within 5 working days.
To activate either option: go to Account Settings → Responsible Gaming → Self-Exclusion / Cool-Off, select your duration, and confirm via OTP sent to your registered mobile number. Once confirmed, self-exclusion cannot be reversed for the chosen duration, this is intentional, as it removes the possibility of impulsive reversal. If you hold accounts on other lottery or gaming platforms, apply equivalent controls there at the same time for consistent protection.
